A high-performance option for solo backpackers and thru-hikers, the hybrid Big Agnes Scout 1 Platinum tent blurs the lines between a traditional double-wall tent and a tarp-style shelter. Ultra-lightweight materials and a trekking pole pitch design (poles sold separately) grant the tent a trail weight less than a pound! Measuring 84 x 32 (at its widest point), the tapered shelter provides 16 square feet of interior space. A large door provides convenient entry. An awning-style extension on the tent body provides weather protection and includes eve and rear vents that maximize airflow to combat condensation build-up. Integrated storage bins at the head of the tent provide places to stash gear and clothes.NOTE: The Scout 1 Platinum is NOT freestanding and does require trekking poles or Big Agnes Accessory Backpacking Poles (all sold separately). Integrated guyout points, obvious anchor points, and included reflective guyline do make the tent easier to erect than it may seem at first. Aluminum J stakes are included to secure the pitch.Silicone-treated nylon rip-stop fabrics deliver lightweight, durable, waterproof protection. All of the tents seams are tape-sealed to further protect against the elements.
